  Rank & file are seeing the money-grubbing

  spoke with a fellow apostate from my own area.

  she and i bailed out about the same time and kept in touch.. she used to do secular work with one of the local elders in his cleaning business until she got dfed.

  this same elder was one of the more profound dickheads on my reinstatement committee, before i turned around two years later and daed.. business required her to contact the elder on behalf of an old client.

  I had to think on this and there is a trend toward less giving in our Hall(I'm the Account Servant).

  Our Accounts went from $6000 a year ago and now around the $1000 mark. One Elder(he is the biggest contributor) asked me any trends I have noticed. I told him" Everyone pays by check and yet only 2 Elders out of 7, and 2 MS's out of 6 and 1 Pioneer out of 14 give on a regular basis. Most of them I have never seen a check from them in 3 years! He paused and said:" The example of those taking the lead shows by the results, and I don't know how to fix it".

  how often did you see / witness anything relating to these traits with the elders.?.

  personally i have known an elder who was taken down by other elders in his circuit because they thought he was getting to big for his boots , and was enjoying his popularity in the circuit and it was in their opinion going to his head.. he had speaking parts on ca`s and was enjoying his popularity.

  the other elders in the circuit obviously didn`t like the attention he was receiving or his inflated ego , and as a collective group cut him down to size.. simply by removing him from the " in " crowd of elders dealing with ca`s and not giving him any more talks or parts at assembly`s .. at the congregational level i have seen the same sort of thing , where an elder gets puffed up with pride / thinks more of himself than he ought to , and gets cut down by the rest of the body of elders.. last but not least , is the elder who has a very strong domineering nature who rides all over the rest of the elder arrangement , simply because he is a bully and always gets his own way on doing things in the congregation.. so is this religion .jw , an arrangement by god ?

  Midweek meeting

  almost two months into the change in format of the mid week meeting from the school and service meeting format to the christian life and ministry (clam) format.

  in my congregation, seems attendance is down 10-15% over the normally low attendance for the mid week meeting before the change.

  some indicate that the meeting under the clam format is very "intense"...you really need to study and research to be able to participate or get anything out of the meetings.

  Some Elders are starving for attention. The Bible Study went 10 minutes over and the Brother didn't even finish the lesson! Everyone was out of the Hall within minutes after the Meeting.

  so ... i don't know if any of this is even of interest any more, i know i'm getting kinda bored with it :) so many other more interesting stories out there.

  anyway, limped my way through 17 years being a jw until now.

  not a good jw mind you.

  First of all, I have enjoyed the 4 Posts you have written!!!

  However, I believe you are being too hard on yourself. It's funny, in some ways my life mirrors yours. My wife attends about 25% of the Meetings, I about 75%. Anytime I share my research with her , she gets upsets and makes an extra effort to go to the meetings.

  So what I am trying to say is, don't mention your findings to him. From what I remember, he used to miss a lot of Meetings until you started sharing things with him. If you leave him alone , he will probably slide back to little activity.

  My best time with my wife is that every evening we have a mix drink(trying out many new ones), Go for a walk or work in the garden together, then switch to a glass of Red Wine, try out a new dinner meal she has found and then watch a TV Program or Movie, go to Bed and do it all over again the next day!

  No arguments, no fussing, everything on the upside. Also, we have a Camper and go out 4 different weeks (5 days each) during the Summer months and don't go to any Meetings while we are on Vacation. No ruff camping either, I even bring my Satellite TV Receiver with me!
